Vocaloid History: White Letter
While perusing Vocaloid songs of the past, I found the very first Miku song (excluding the demo songs that were released with her.) 'White Letter' by GonGoss, released on August 9th 2007. Compared to modern Vocaloid songs, it's beat is repetitive and it's lyrics are simple, but it has a nostalgic and humble charm to it. The animation especially brings a feeling of simpler times, innocent curiousity, and enjoyment of the little things.
At the end of the video, Miku dons her iconic outfit, takes a deep breath, and walks forward. In hindsight, this was her first step out into the world. Not knowing the impact she was about to make on countless lives for years to come.
I have deep feelings for Vocaloid that I can't quite articulate yet, but I can at least say ... What a shining force of joy in an often unhappy world.
NEW VOCALOID: Po-uta!
SO THIS CAME OUT OF LEFT FIELD.
Porter Robinson's voice has now been immortalized in a brand new Vocaloid, Po-uta! (Which is a clever name, as it's similar to how 'Porter' is pronounced in Japanese, and 'uta' means 'song.') I can only imagine how honored and excited Porter must be. In a tweet following the announcement, he said:
" man VOCALOID music changed my life and has been a key influence for like 10 years.
i REALLY hope Vocaloid fans in particular love him
it meant a lot to me when Sad Machine came out and i felt like, despite being an outsider of the scene, the VOCALOID community embraced it "
He composed and released a demo song to coincide with the announcement, and you can feel the genuine emotion in these lyrics. Here's an interview where he talks about it. This is also the first official Vocaloid released in 4 years, apparently? Big news for sure.
Porter's music really touched me when I listened to it a lot in my mid-20s. There's a sense of hope and optimism in his music that I don't think any other music I've heard has been able to achieve. Whenever I listen to 'Shelter', for the 5 minutes it's playing, I feel like everything is okay. Everything will be okay. (As a side note, this means it's now possible that Shelter could be added to Proseka.)
This is just so cool, I'm so happy for him. And so excited to see Po-uta flourish in the Vocaloid scene! I think he's gonna fit right in. Really looking forward to the songs producers make using his voicebank!
PRSK JP: Month of March
Big things coming up on JP to get excited about.
First off we have a Tsukasa focus event on the 11th. This will be the 88th event, and apparently the number 88 is associated with Tsukasa a lot? The most obvious being the song from his last focus event on JP, 88☆彡. Which is one of my fav Wansho songs honestly. But yeah, considering how bittersweet and melancholic Rui and Emu's recent events were, I'm feelin' a little anxious about this one ...
Next up is the hot topic among the fandom, Niigo Kaito will FINALLY arrive on the 21st! It seems to be a Kanade focus event, which suggests Kaito may appear because of strong feelings Kanade may be having about her father. And in that case, he could be a kind fatherly type. Most people are theorizing he'll be a pathetic sad boy, or kind of rude and mean, but I'm leaning more toward kind fatherly type.

There's gonna be ... Colorfes Len and Rin. I'm normal about it. Shut up.
Judging by Miku and Luka's colorfes set last year, these cards will be the original Len and Rin. As in, not the Len and Rin from the various Sekai, but the original Len and Rin that all the Sekai versions were based off of. So this will be the original Kagamines' first real cards since the 1-stars that released with the game.
Their card stories will likely progress the underlying plotline that Miku and Luka's card stories started — which means it's almost a guarantee that Kaito and Meiko will have a colorfes set (in September/October?) that will finish out this plot. So the art for these Len and Rin cards may have a darker theme, but we'll see. I'm just begging for them to have good card art, but the art department on the Colopale dev team rarely disappoints.
Oh, and this colorfes set will also have a Shiho 4-star. And Ena, An, Nene, and L/N Miku will be included too. So this colorfes is gonna destroy me personally.
